The Yamaha CLP-785 PE (Polished Ebony) is a premium console digital piano from the now-discontinued CLP-700 series, highly regarded for its authentic feel with a GrandTouch™ Keyboard featuring real wooden keys and high-end sound system. It has been succeeded by the CLP-885 model.
Key Features and Specifications
The CLP-785 was the flagship upright-style model of its series, designed to emulate the experience of playing a concert grand piano.
Keyboard Action: Features the 88-key GrandTouch™ Keyboard with Linear Graded Hammers and counterweights, which offers an incredibly realistic feel with each key uniquely weighted, much like an acoustic grand piano. The white keys are made of solid wood and the keytops are synthetic ivory and ebony to wick away moisture.
Sound Quality: Employs Binaural Sampling (for CFX and Bösendorfer voices only) for a 3D headphone experience and Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) to simulate the complex sympathetic vibrations of an acoustic soundboard and strings. It also includes Grand Expression Modeling, which translates subtle finger movements into infinite tonal variations.
Speakers: Boasts the finest sound system in the series, with a powerful 300W multi-amplifier system that uses Spruce Cone Speakers made from the same tonewood used in Yamaha acoustic pianos.
Voices and Connectivity: Includes 53 instrument voices, 14 drum/SFX kits, and 480 XG voices, including four historic fortepiano voices. It features Bluetooth audio for wireless music streaming and Bluetooth MIDI for connectivity to the Smart Pianist app, as well as USB-to-Host and USB-to-Device ports.
Design: The Polished Ebony finish gives it a beautiful, elegant look, mimicking the appearance of a traditional upright piano with a disappearing touch sensor control panel for a classic aesthetic.
