The Yamaha Arius YDP-103B (the “B” refers to the black finish) is an entry-level console digital piano known for its realistic feel and authentic grand piano sound, ideal for aspiring pianists. It has been discontinued by Yamaha but may still be available from various retailers.
Key Features
Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) Keyboard: The 88-key GHS keyboard provides a heavier touch in the low keys and lighter touch in the high keys, mimicking the feel of an acoustic piano to help build proper finger technique.
Authentic Piano Sound: The piano sound is generated using Yamaha’s Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) stereo sampling technology, which uses digital recordings of an actual Yamaha grand piano to deliver a rich, authentic tone with realistic reverberation.
Connectivity: The YDP-103B can connect to a computer or smart device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) via USB. This allows use of the free Digital Piano Controller app for intuitive control of voices, metronome, reverb, and other functions. Wireless connection is also possible with an optional UDB01 Bluetooth adapter.
Voices and Effects: In addition to the grand piano voice, the instrument includes a selection of 10 different instrument sounds that can be combined in a “dual voice mode,” such as piano and strings. It also features digital reverb to simulate the acoustics of various performance environments.
Pedals: It features three pedals (soft, sostenuto, and damper) with half-pedal control functionality.
